Brave Like Leo
It's come to my attention that we have yet to praise the crap out of Korbin Lund, the star of our show. Korbin is Jaron's cousin and right from the get go, while Spaceman was still in its pre-written stages, Jaron knew that Korbin was who he wanted for the part. He fit the physical profile perfectly, and when he was offered the part he jumped at the opportunity. The only problem was that he'd never acted a day in his life. Everyone involved during preproduction was worried about this. Not all of us voiced our concerns, but it was definitely on everyone's mind.
All our fears were soon put to rest on the first day of shooting. Korbin was awesome; he took very little direction and its safe to say he pretty much nailed it. As the week went on we found ourselves constantly asking each other "Where did this kid come from?!" He picked up on everything so quickly, and soon became the complete embodiment of Sam. His performance was so natural he even had all of us practically in tears more than once. Not to mention what a trooper he was, literally falling asleep mid haircut at one point. Korbin is the heart and soul of this show and believe me when I say that no one could have pulled it off but him! Thank you so much Korb we could not have done it without you buddy!!Tuesday, October 19, 2010
Steve The Great.
Editing footage of the great Steve Bethers. This amazing actor stepped up to the plate literally last minute. We called him the day before he was due to shoot and asked him to do a part that he had never heard of. He said yes, rearranged his schedule and showed up last minute. HE NAILED THE PART! Steve took his role as Tom to a level I hadn't even considered. SHOUT OUT TO STEVE BETHERS! THANK YOU SO MUCH!

Wrapped
So we are wrapped for the month! And dare I say it was a life changing experience. So many people pulled together to make this challenging and emotional film come to life. Now on to post! (except for that one little pick up weekend in October) THANK YOU SO MUCH! Thanks to everyone that helped out, the ones who stepped up to the plate and put there own blood sweat and tears into this! Thanks to all those little miracle people who came out of the wood works. Thanks for all the sacrifices made. For putting your life on hold so that this project could come to life. I recognize it was not easy, at times almost unbearable and I thank you. This would not be have as meaning full if those sacrifices here made. thank you. Keep watching for updates behind the scenes footage, pictures and much more! THANK YOU!

Behind the Camera.
Here are a few pics testing light, setting camera and running blocking all during our shoot. Holly "Wonder Women" Tuckett, our Director of Photography, really knows what needs to happen to pull of the shots needed to tell this emotional story.

The Inspiration
The first minute and a half of this song sets the tone for this entire film. I was stuck in rush hour traffic on a cold February day, on my way to work when I had this film play out in front of me. I had just turned on this song and I could see it very vividly. The characters, the colors, the emotion. All of it panned out right in front of me. I knew at that moment that this story had to be told. My life is not at all like Sam's is, I could only imagine what a little boy of that age would experience going through the trials he does. I have seen Struggle and major life changing trials in ways I would compare to Sam's trials but my family has been there for me through all of it. I have watched friends and family members hurt and scared, much in the same way Sam is. It sounds backwards but my family has been an inspiration for this film, with out them my life would be Sam's.
